Working with Mines Affected by Extreme Flooding
This presentation from Stuart Ritchie of Rio Tinto Coal Australia discusses water management in mines and how to combat issues brought about by extreme weathers, including rains and floods. It features how Rio Tinto Coal plans for wet seasons, as well as how they manage surface water.
This piece was presented during the Water Management in Mining 2011 Queensland conference. The event will also be happening in Western Australia in December 2011, with a focus on issues pertinent to the state. In particular, water management during droughts, sustainable water management in the entire mine cycle, as well as water issues surrounding mine closure will be discussed.
