Hosted By :April 10, 2012
About this Podcast...
Whilst the Australian mining industry is known to be very good at safety and operations risk assessment, the same cannot be said of our IT and network security. Right now, the industry is not only faced with the challenge of hacktivists, but also bigger actors who are targeting our internal processes control systems and mining data.
In this interview with Fortescue Metals Group’s IT Specialist, Crispin Harris, he talks about the security issues facing mining companies and how we can secure our systems from both internal and external threats.
He also discusses developing a good network architecture, and the importance of conducting solid risk assessments. The mining industry has to view IT and network security as an ongoing procedure, as Crispin explains: "With security, it's a constantly evolving threat, and so it requires a consistently active response".
