Our Closeological study of Goldstone’s Ghanaian licenses proved popular with readers and helped highlight the strength of these projects. More importantly the report gave a glimpse of what was yet to come. Just like Goldstone we are firm believers that if an approach works, keep repeating it. It’s simple really. So with this in mind, we now turn our attention to another of Goldstone’s blue-sky projects, namely Sangola in Senegal. learn more

There is no doubt that most investors still find the mining sector somewhat arcane and not easily accessible (this was certainly our view when we first starting investing here) and this can prove a major stumbling block for those wishing to gain a greater insight into a sector which, according to some, is soon set to grow at a pace to rival the Tech boom of the 90’s. We also recognise that opportunities in Natural Resources are not always as they may seem at first glance and there are factors (such as funding issues) which needed to be appreciated and taken into consideration to get a better understanding of the risks. Whilst Companies in other sectors are set up to make profits through their trading activities, resource exploration companies are different and as such, their treatment in financial reporting terms also needs to be different. learn more

WOB Directors, Claire Braund and Ruth Medd, who compiled the index, said the dividends were evident for those companies who had put the early work in on gender diversity, while those just getting started will have some hard years ahead of them. “Maintaining workforce gender diversity at all levels requires consistent effort and vigilance and is not something that can be ticked off and forgotten. Principle 3 is just the beginning of the journey for Australian companies,” Medd and Braund said. learn more

With about 10,000 exploration, development and mining operations worldwide, half of which are outside our country, the Canadian mining industry is renowned for providing highly productive, safe and environmentally sound performance. In 2011, CAMESE is celebrating their 30th anniversary. The association was founded by a small group of Canadian business people who had an idea during a trade mission to Chile and Peru in 1981. Their concept was that by banding together they could accomplish more for mining in Canada than they could as individual companies. This common ground still exists for CAMESE today, even though the membership has grown from a handful of organizations to more than 300. learn more
