Miners’ Promise – Creating Awareness for Workplace Fatality in Mining

Miners PromiseThis week, Mining IQ caught up with Helen Fitzroy, the founder of Miners' Promise. Established on 1 July 2010, Miners’ Promise is an independent, not for profit member based legacy organisation. Miners' Promise was established by those within the sector to provide an independent support agency for the men and women (and their families) employed within the resources industry as currently, there is no existing independent support service for families of resource workers in Australia nor the rest of the world. Individuals who have themselves experienced emotional and financial hardship or lost a loved one expectantly are the driving force behind establishing their organisation.

In this interview, Helen discusses the effects of workplace fatality, awareness in the industry and how families can find financial help. This is a difficult and important issue that deserves recognition, thank you Helen for giving your time to the cause.
