Mining Charity Update

Mining IQ announces their Charity Auction and Dinner...

This year as part of our on-going commitment to the effort displayed by the emergency services personnel in the mining industry Mining IQ and Miners’ Promise have formed a partnership to host a mining charity Auction & Dinner to raise money for towards their invaluable service within the mining community.

Established in 2010, Miners’ Promise was developed as a mining charity by Helen Fitzroy who lost her own husband in an underground mining accident in 1991. Left with three children and the difficult job of trying to rebuild a "normal" life Helen and her team is trying to create a support network for those that are left in the same situation. Miners’ Promise is the only independent, not-for-profit legacy scheme created to support workers and their families after the bereavement or permanent injury of their loved one in the resources industry.

"Thanks for everything you have done. No words can express how grateful we are".

The words are bitter-sweet. As a testimonial for a new mining charity like Miners’ Promise, what more could we want? But these are feelings born of tragedy – a young resource worker’s death. His family was devastated; in emotional despair at the most desperate time of their lives.

Mining Charity Makes a Difference to Community

Miners’ Promise made a difference at that moment, and will continue to do so as time goes on, supporting members’ families as they re-build their shattered lives.

Please join Mining IQ at the Duxton Hotel for the inaugural Mine Rescue and Emergency Management WA Charity Dinner and Auction.

Miners’ Promise is an on-going friend for those in need, "mateship in its most practical form". Miners’ Promise not only provides immediate financial support, but also trauma support, legal assistance and on-going education for spouses, partners and dependents.

The resources sector is growing in Australia and even with advances in machinery, technology and continuous efforts to improve occupational safety – accidents are still occurring. Mining IQ wants to help Miners’ Promise in their mission to dispel the notion that it can’t happen to you. The importance of developing this support network is crucial for all miners and their families.
