Evo-Crete Blocks making light work of APLNG project

Since the specification of small Evo-Crete Cable Ladder Blocks into the Australian Pacific LNG’s well-head project, the benefits of the blocks have already been realised by installation teams.

One of Australia’s leading contractor mining services provider, Leighton Contractors have been the first to start installation with the Evo-Crete Cable Ladder Blocks, with initial purchases being made late last year.

Evo-Crete was chosen by Origin Energy for the APLNG project due to their ultra-lightweight and fibre reinforced nature explained Steve Bidner from Origin procurement.

"We chose to specify the cable ladder blocks for the well-head project in Evo-Crete for a number of reasons," said Mr Bidner.

"Firstly, as they are lightweight they are easy to be handled by one person, thus reducing labour costs. Transporting Evo-Crete is also much easier with less weight involved. These costs were taken into consideration in our final choice.

"We also believe Evo-Crete to be a far superior product with quality paramount in our decisions.

"Additionally, Origin is proud to support local content. Basically this is an Australian product that fits our needs perfectly for what we want it to do."

Evo-Crete Cable Ladder Blocks have already been proven in smaller projects such as the Ouyen WRP site and Downer EDI.

Evolve’s mining and industry manager Angus Wood said the blocks are fast gaining a reputation in both mining and industrial applications as the preferred solution for stable and durable equipment foundations.

One key ingredient to Evo-Crete’s success is the proprietary blend of Evo-Fibre polyolefin fibre reinforcing. When added to a concrete mix the unique blend of Evo-Fibre provides improved abrasion resistance, as well as increased flexural and compressive strength.

"Engineers are using Evo-Crete Cable Ladder Blocks to reduce project timeframes and they are also a top choice for OH&S and the environment," said Mr Wood.

"Installation crews are finding Evo-Crete ideal because they’re lightweight and easy to drill into with hand drills and self-tapping screws."
