Nenad Petkovic, graduated from the department of Regional Geology, engaged in the Jadarite development Project as a Senior Geologist. He has more than 18 years' experience in geological research, of which 9 years' experience are specific to underground mining and mineral resources exploration. In addition to the basic specialties in the field of structural geology, he has gained considerable experience in the field of Geological Information System and databases management. During his career he has undertaken projects in Serbia, Montenegro, Republic of Ireland and Libya. He has been at Rio Sava Exploration (Rio Tinto) since March 2011.

As the sole GIS Officer at St Ives, responsible for maintaining and updating our GIS data, developing new tools and ways of using our spatial data, supporting and training staff, producing content to specification for all departments, and promoting the understanding and use of GIS across the site.

World's Best Topographical Maps Released

In news that will excite Mining IQ's readers interested in GIS, Japan and NASA have recently published an updated version of the world's most complete digital topographic map.
The maps have enormous potential for many across the globe, from those involved in urban planning to land protection and of course, mining and locating natural resources. The map is an update from the 2009 maps and uses images from NASA's Terra spacecraft.
